Man, listen—Anthony Davis pulled up to his Mavericks debut on Saturday like he had something to prove, and for a moment, it looked like Dallas had just pulled off the steal of the year.
The man was unstoppable. By halftime, he had racked up 24 points, 13 rebounds, five dimes, and three blocks.
Just straight BALLIN'.
He finished the game with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists.
But then, just as Mavs fans were starting to believe... boom. Another injury.
AD left in the third quarter, grabbing at his lower abdomen, later calling it a “spasm.”
Now, look, I love Anthony Davis.
When he’s on the floor, he’s a Top 10 player in the league—no question.
And if you don't think so, go to your nearest CVS and take a drug test.
The man can score from anywhere, protect the rim, and clean the glass like nobody’s business.
When he’s healthy, he can drop 30 and 15 with 4 blocks, like it’s second nature.
But let’s be real.
The best ability in the NBA is AVAILABILITY. And that’s the one thing AD just can’t seem to guarantee.
Mavs Fans Are Stressed Already
Dallas is already in full meltdown mode.
Fans were HOT when GM Nico Harrison pulled the trigger on that Luka-for-AD trade, sending Doncic to the Lakers.
Now?
Folks done lost their damn minds—protests, petitions, calling for Harrison to get fired.
They want Luka back ASAP.
This is straight-up DIABOLICAL!
Now, just one game into the Anthony Davis era, he’s already dealing with an injury?
Man… Mavs fans might just storm the facility if this keeps up.
A Risky Bet for Dallas
If, and it’s a big IF, Davis can stay on the floor, the Mavericks are legit. He’s the perfect piece to fit into their system.
They could easily make it back to the NBA Finals with their roster. But if his injury struggles continue, this whole experiment could go from 0 to 100 real quick—shoutout to Drake.
Mavs fans, I feel y’all.
This trade was a gamble, and right now, in the eyes of Mavs fans, I can see how it looks shaky already.
AD showed in his debut that he can still be dominant—but will he be around when it really matters?
That’s the million-dollar question.
But Maybe This One Isn’t That Serious?
Now, let’s not hit the panic button just yet. Davis played a career-high 76 games last season, which is proof that he can stay on the floor when things go right.
Maybe this injury is just a minor setback, and he comes back fully healthy, ready to help the Mavs make another deep playoff run.
At full strength, this team is scary. A Big 3 of Kyrie, AD, and Klay Thompson with PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford, and those boys?
That’s a serious problem in the Western Conference.
If AD stays healthy, Dallas has everything it needs to make another Finals appearance.
But that’s a huge if.
What’s Next for the Mavs?
Now, Dallas is stuck waiting. Is this just a minor setback? Or is this the start of another long, frustrating cycle of injuries? If it’s the latter, GM Nico Harrison might never hear the end of it.
For now, all we can do is wait. But one thing’s for sure—Dallas cannot afford to have their biggest trade piece already breaking down.
