Nike finally did what Detroit has been screaming about for the last year: put some respect on Cade Cunningham’s name.
After hooping like he’s been trying to unlock a 99 overall rating in real life, Cade locked in a new six-year endorsement deal with Nike, and yes, the man is officially getting his own signature shoe, per ESPN and Yahoo Sports.
About time.
Nike didn’t just re-sign Cade… they stamped him. He now joins an elite crew of Nike signature athletes: LeBron, KD, Ja, Book, Giannis… and now Him Cunningham.
That’s not a list; that’s a dinner table you only get invited to if you’ve been terrorizing defenses on a nightly basis.
And Cade has.
Let’s run this back for the folks in the cheap seats: The 2024-25 All-Star, All-NBA Third Team guard, and future mayor of Detroit (I said what I said) is averaging:
27.5 PPG
9.9 APG
5.4 RPG
1.4 SPG
Career highs across the board. The man is hooping like he’s trying to get a Netflix documentary.
Despite Cade missing the past three games, the Pistons haven’t missed a beat. Detroit has won 10 straight and sits at 12-2, holding down the top spot in the East like a team that finally remembered they’re supposed to be good.
And let’s be very real: Cade is firmly in the MVP conversation — second behind Luka in my book — and easily the second-best player in the East behind Giannis.
The man’s been cooking so consistently the Stove Gods might sue for copyright.
Now, let’s talk about this shoe.
Nike plans to drop Cade’s signature sneaker in the second half of the 2026-27 season. That’s perfect timing, just enough space for Detroit fans to start refreshing SNKRS like it’s Ticketmaster presale day for Beyoncé.
And if Nike gives Cade the right concept — a little Detroit grit, a little Motor City soul — those kicks will fly off shelves like they're FREE!
This partnership is a layup. This moment is deserved.
And this city? Ready.
Shoutout to Him Cunningham.
DETROIT BASKETBALL lives again, and it’s wearing the Swoosh.
