DETROIT! What up, doe?!

Let me say it loud so everybody hears me: THE LIONS ARE COMING, BABY!

And they’re coming in style.

Yes, I’m from Detroit. Yes, I bleed Honolulu blue. And yes, I am hyped.

The Lions have reportedly extended wide receiver Jameson “Jamo” Williams to a 3-year, $83 million deal.

Detroit, stand up!

This isn’t just a signing. This is a declaration: We’re building around our stars.

The deal reportedly locks Williams through the 2029 season, and it was finalized less than 24 hours before the Lions’ season opener in Green Bay.

That’s not luck. That’s strategy. That’s foresight. That’s a front office saying, “We see you, Jamo, and we aren’t letting you walk.”

Williams, 24, is coming off his first 1,000-yard season, and he was entering the fourth year of his rookie contract.

With Lions offensive coordinator John Morton calling plays, expect Williams to take on an even bigger role alongside All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown.

This duo?

Dangerous. Explosive. Game-breaking.

Let’s take a look at how we got here:

  • Detroit traded up 20 spots to draft Williams 12th overall in 2022.

  • He’s experienced tremendous growth, including a breakout 2024 season with seven receiving TDs, 61 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown.

  • Adversity? Williams has faced it. ACL injury at Alabama. Six-game suspension in 2023 for gambling violations. Two-game suspension in 2024 for performance-enhancing substances.

  • Yet despite missing two games last season, he still managed to post 1,000+ yards.

That’s resilience. That’s talent. That’s a young man who’s ready to take the league by storm.

Detroit rewarded him early because, let’s be real, the WR market from the 2022 draft class is hot: Drake London, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave — all still unsigned to big extensions.

Locking up Williams now?

Smart business. Smart football. Smart for the culture.

And let’s talk potential.

This kid can take the top off a defense. Deep-ball threat? Check.

Playmaker in the slot? Check.

A guy who can stretch the field, open lanes for St. Brown, and make defenses sweat? DOUBLE CHECK.

I love this move by the Lions. No drama, no holdout, just business.

Locking up stars, building continuity, setting themselves up for a Super Bowl run — this is how contenders are made.

Detroit isn’t just participating in the NFL anymore; Detroit is sending a message.

Mark my words: if Williams continues to develop, if he stays healthy, and if this offense clicks, the Lions’ wideout duo of Williams and St. Brown could be the most feared receiving tandem in the NFC.

And you better believe opposing defenses are already shaking in their cleats.

DETROIT vs. EVERYBODY. And with moves like this? Yeah, I like our chances.
