Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis Canceled — and Honestly, Good Riddance

Let’s keep it a buck: this “fight” should’ve never been scheduled in the first place.
We were really supposed to sit there and watch Tank Davis, one of the most dangerous, skilled, pound-for-pound fighters on Earth, trade punches with a YouTuber?
Come on, bruh. That’s not boxing. That’s content.
Now don’t get me wrong, Jake Paul has done more for boxing promotion in the last five years than most networks. He brought a new audience, he learned the sport, and he’s not just swinging for clicks anymore — the guy actually trains.
But Tank Davis? Tank is cut from that cloth. This isn’t supposed to be any exhibition circus.
This fight was basically a TikTok collab with gloves on.
But here’s the thing: it’s bigger than boxing now. Tank has to get his personal life in order.
The man’s got too much smoke outside the ring, and it’s clouding everything inside it.
Another lawsuit, more controversy. At this point, it feels like déjà vu.
And to be real, I don’t want to see him wasting his prime on sideshows like this.
I want to see him step in with real dogs. Shakur Stevenson. A rematch with Lamont Roach.
Not a dude whose biggest win came from knocking out a retired MMA fighter on a Netflix special.
At least Francis Ngannou had the sense to pass on that offer. He probably looked at the contract and said, “Yeah, I’m cool on that influencer energy.”
So yeah, good riddance to that fight. Let’s get back to real boxing. The sport needs it.
Because the more we let YouTubers and exhibitions take over the main event, the further we drift from what made boxing beautiful in the first place — the sweet science, the legacy, and the respect of it all.
And right now, that’s what Tank’s missing most.
