Jalen Hurts Proved He’s Him, Mahomes Proved He’s Not Brady

Man, let’s talk about what we just witnessed in Super Bowl 59.

The Eagles cooked the Chiefs, 40-22, in a game that wasn't even close.

Did the Chiefs even realize they were in the Super Bowl?

Anyway, Jalen Hurts stepped up and handled business like a true franchise QB, while Patrick Mahomes? Well, he was running so much you'd think Sha'Carri Richardson was playing QB.

He looked straight-up lost out there.

Jalen Hurts? Beast.

The man completed 77% of his passes, threw two touchdowns, and broke a Super Bowl record for QB rushing yards with 72.

Every time the Chiefs' defense thought they had him figured out, he switched up like a GPS rerouting in traffic.

Hurts made it clear: He’s built for this moment.

And let’s give a standing ovation to that Eagles defense because, my GAWD.

They made Mahomes look mortal.

They had him tap dancing so much, you would've thought Gregory Hines was back there playing QB.

Six sacks. Two picks. A pick-six. And they did it without blitzing.

Not once.

Mahomes dropped back 42 times, and they still got pressure on him without sending extra rushers.

That’s DIABOLICAL.

And let’s not forget, Mahomes was 8-0 against Vic Fangio-led defenses before this game.

But Fangio, now the Eagles' defensive mastermind, outcoached Andy Reid and completely flipped that script.

Speaking of Reid, he’s now 3-3 in Super Bowls, including an L with Philly.

Mahomes Played the Worst Game of His Career

Let's be real —Mahomes was shook.

He looked flustered, confused, and downright bewildered.

Every time he dropped back, it felt like he was in survival mode—running for his life!

The Chiefs’ offense had just 23 yards in the first half.

Mahomes’ QB rating at halftime? One. Yes, you read that right. One.

Now, I know people love to put Mahomes in the GOAT conversation, but let’s dead that right now.

He’s not touching Tom Brady. Brady went 7-3 in Super Bowls and only lost by a combined 15 points in those three L’s.

Mahomes?

He’s now 3-2, and his two losses? A combined 40 points.

That ain’t close.

And don’t even bring up Joe Montana—Montana went 4-0 in Super Bowls, won three MVPs, and never threw a pick on the biggest stage. Mahomes still has a long way to go before he’s even in that conversation.

Saquon Barkley Made History, But Not How You’d Expect

Saquon Barkley became just the third player in NFL history to win a rushing title and a Super Bowl in the same season, joining Terrell Davis and Emmitt Smith.

That’s legendary company.

But his performance in the big game? Rough.

Barkley ran the ball 25 times but managed just 57 yards—an average of 2.3 yards per carry, the lowest in Super Bowl history for a back with 20+ carries.

The Chiefs' defense clearly made stopping him a priority, but it didn’t matter in the end because Philly still worked them like a 9 to 5.

And speaking of their run game, the Eagles accomplished something we haven’t seen since 1975.

They became the first Super Bowl champion to finish a season (including playoffs) with more rushing yards (3,866) than passing yards (3,820).

That’s old-school, smashmouth football, and it worked to perfection.

What’s Next for Both Teams?

For Philly, this is huge. Jalen Hurts just proved he’s that dude, and the Eagles look built to stay in this championship mix for years to come.

They’ve got a young core, a dominant defense, and a QB who’s only getting better. This might be just the beginning.

For the Chiefs? They gotta take a long look in the mirror. Their O-line was a disaster, their offense felt predictable, and Mahomes needs more help.

Travis Kelce isn’t getting any younger, and that receiving core? Mid.

If they don’t make some serious moves this offseason, this could be the start of a decline.

The Verdict

This wasn’t just a Super Bowl loss for the Chiefs—it was a reality check.

The Eagles made them look pedestrian.

Hurts took a step toward greatness, while Mahomes took a step back in the GOAT race.

So let’s talk about it—was this just a bad game for Mahomes, or is the dynasty slipping?
