Jets Can’t Catch a Break: Justin Fields Hurt at Practice

Well, well, well … if this isn't the most Jetsy thing ever, I don't know what is.
Justin Fields — the shiny new quarterback the Jets just handed $40 million to over two years — had to be carted off the field during Thursday’s practice with what's being called a leg injury.
Yes, carted.
Off. The. Field.
Now to be fair, Fields did end up walking off under his own power. But that’s not the point.
The point is this: How do you explain this level of misfortune without invoking the word “cursed”?
Aaron Rodgers tears his Achilles on the very first drive of the Jets' 2023 season.
Now, one year later, the backup plan — a mobile quarterback with upside, a chip on his shoulder, and a fan base kinda-sorta excited to see what he could be — goes down on the first play of an 11-on-11 series.
Let me repeat that: the very first play of a full-team period.
According to Connor Hughes of SNY, Fields threw an incomplete pass, sat down, stood up, and then started limping.
Moments later, trainers removed his cleat, and the cart was brought out. The practice was abruptly moved into a special teams session. No word from the Jets yet. Not even a vague "he’s being evaluated."
Nothing.
Are the Football Gods Anti-Green?
This isn't even funny anymore. Jets fans can’t have nice things.
Justin Fields isn’t just another backup — he’s a former first-round pick who showed legit flashes in Chicago and then went 4-2 as a starter in Pittsburgh last year.
In limited action with the Steelers, he completed nearly 66% of his passes, ran for nearly 300 yards, and accounted for 10 total touchdowns with just one pick.
He was supposed to be insurance. He was supposed to be growth.
Now?
He’s a question mark...again.
Let’s also be real here — the Fields redemption arc was one of the more intriguing storylines this preseason.
A young brotha trying to get his groove back in a New York market?
Now we’re sitting here wondering if he’s going to miss significant time, or if we’ve just witnessed another chapter in the never-ending Jets saga of heartbreak.
If This Is Serious… Then What?
If the injury is more than a scare, who steps up?
Because if this injury is more than just a tweak, it’ll mark yet another time the Jets paid for hope and got disaster instead.
