Let’s be real, man — this was long overdue.

Kevin Stefanski finally stopped playing games and named Shedeur Sanders as QB2 behind Dillon Gabriel.

He confirmed it Friday, and all I can say is… ABOUT. DAMN. TIME.

Because respectfully — Bailey Zappe?

C’mon bruh. Let’s not waste each other’s time.

Stefanski had been “noncommittal” for weeks about who’d hold that backup spot, which was crazy considering Shedeur’s been doing everything right since he touched down in Cleveland.

Work ethic on point. Attitude polished. Confidence steady. He’s handled this whole process like a pro — not like a rookie trying to go viral, but like a quarterback building something real.

And he’s been patient, too. Said he’s “in a great mental space” and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

You can hear it in his voice, the man’s ready.

Now I get it; Dillon Gabriel’s still the starter for now. He’s been serviceable; I’ll give him that. 19-for-33, 190 yards, two touchdowns, no picks.

Nothing wild, but solid.

But “solid” doesn’t win you games in Cleveland. Not in that division.

And I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Shedeur’s moment is coming.

You can feel it.

The poise, the bloodline, the swagger — all of it screams “next up.”

And let’s be honest, there’s always this weird energy when a confident, young, Black quarterback starts climbing the ranks. Folks act like it’s a crime to believe in yourself.

But Shedeur isn’t flinching. He’s been here before — cameras, critics, chaos — none of that rattles him.

Stefanski told reporters he just wanted to “take time and do what’s right for the players.” That’s coach-speak for “I was waiting until I couldn’t ignore what everybody else already sees.”

Look, I’m not saying bench Gabriel tomorrow… but I’m also saying… keep those cleats warm, Shedeur.

Because one bad outing, one mid-performance, this city’s going to be chanting your name louder than Bone Thugs in the ’90s.

Cleveland’s been starving for hope under center.

Maybe, just maybe, Shedeur Sanders is the one who finally locks that door and throws away the key.
